Making something with old saddlecloth

I have a personalised saddlecloth that belonged to my old mare. Has anyone turned a saddlecloth into a cushion? How did you do it?
I would like to do something with it as my new pony is a gelding and its purple with her name on so not very appropriate for him!

sounds like a lovely idea. maybe make a cushion and withleft over bits you could do patchwork or a pencil case or browbqnd cover

My daughter did a very simple cushion, she stitched round the edges inside out, but made it more square shaped turned it the right way and shoved a cushion pad in. It looks good. She was only about 13 at the time and hers turned out well!

I’d like to do something with the hooligans saddlecloth. It’s got his name on it and it’s too large for either of the girls. I don’t know one end of a sewing machine from another though...

Usually there are places that do sewing repairs, make curtains, uphostery etc. Or you could ask older relations who may know a sewing machinist. In the olden days I would have suggested Yellow Pages!
