I've made the decision I need to move to a livery yard with my youngster due to having no facilities or company at home not to mention all the busy roads I have to encounter before reaching anything I would consider safe.

However due to having my own yard at home for a significant time now I'm worried about the transition. Has anyone else done this? How did you manage? And is there anything I should look out for in particular? It's been over 10 years since I was on a yard 😁 Also it's so hard to find anywhere with any spaces around me at the moment 😔

I did it briefly and really enjoyed having company and facilities. I would avoid getting caught in any livery yard politics and just enjoy it for what it is.

Not much help but I am going to be doing this in a month or so. Rather nervous about returning to yard politics and gossip, but very much looking forward to having someone to ride with and decent facilities.

This is what I'm nervous about too! But will be glad of the company or just someone about to pick me up from the floor!

I part loaned at livery it was my first experience of a yard and I have to say I love it. I'd never have a horse at home again unless I had a proper arena and maybe a riding buddy. It's so lonely doing it on your own.

I could have mine at home but opt to have him at a yard. I love my yard and the people and people to spur you on, and people to ride with and chatter to ..............!!
