Hi

can anyone help me please, i am on a very busy yard and a couple of new people have moved on and are making everybody's life a misery atm ....... i am thinking of moving yards, but only taking one of my horses the other will stay with my daughter

my question is this other yard there is no winter turnout where on the yard i do now does and the horses have been on the yrard 5 yrs now , plus i would have to go on shaving and my girl has never had shavings,

my question is how many bales of shavings would i need a week and how much would it cost and would it be a good idea to move just my girl she is close to my daughters horse that is my problem, i just need to get off the current yard

Thank you in advance

Sounds like you need to spend a little longer finding a different yard that you can move both horses to. Not having any winter turnout at all is going to make things a bit more tricky and not many people would choose that for their horses.

As far as the shavings go, it depends on your horse and how pristine you keep your beds - with my grotty mares I can get by with one or 2 bales a week when my horses are turned out daily but it would be more if they were in all of the time.

A difficult one, unless the people are making your horses life a misery I am afraid I would not move to somewhere that had no turnout as that is not fair on your horse, I would either try and find a place that did have at least some turn out or stay and deal with the issues by involving the YO, does the YO know there are problems on the yard as I would not be happy that new people are making my long term clients feel uncomfortable and desperate to leave, try talking to the YO if you have not already as they should intervene and sort out any problems, if you have tried or they are not supportive then I feel for you as the yard should be a pleasant place to go.

Shavings use will depend on the horse but if they are in 24/7 most will use at least 2 bales a week possibly more, in the region of £7 per bale.

Why not try to resolve issue at current yard than just jumping ship to a yard that sounds like there are a number of negatives to?

I agree with this. Don't let these people force you out if you are otherwise happy at this yard!

i bpught a pallet of 24 22.5kg shavings for 189 pounds from Edwards Buildbase and i have to say this is the third time i have had them they are good qualiry tightly packed dust extracted shavings. delivery f.o.c if u live less than 20 miles away. even cheaper per bale if u have a pallet of 36. Bloke comes amd places on pallet outdoors with grabber on lorry.
