Well, missy Amber decided to come into season 2 months early - so no time to get her spayed!!! grrrr. Ive just had to ship Dante up to our MILs he was driving us barmy

Not his fault, but this time round its driving him senile. He's just spent the last three days pacing around (completely seperate from Amber) squeecking and yelping. Just before he went up MIL's he was even trembling.

How long does the 'intense' part of the season last? He's been like this since thursday, but he's a complete wreck! I know its unfair on him, but I have just been trying to do all the rights things re. the spaying. TBH I think Im going to get her done, and take the chance her dog aggression may get worse as I cant put Dante through this again.

But she's already day 16 (couting the day she started bleeding as day 0) , I thought it was only a few days / week, two weeks and he will of had a nervous breakdown, he's not sleeping either. Is he really going to be that crazy for that long, she should only have 5 days left.

I would keep them apart for another 10 days or so to be safe. Sometimes when inexperienced dogs get the idea they don't know when to stop!! Have you considered having him castrated instead of waiting to get her spayed? Although if she has seasons every 4 months it would probably be advisable to have her done too at some point.

I already said about this on a previous post, the vets wont castrate him until he's been cocking his leg for a month.

We've just got him back and he's hysterical again, not sure whether to phone the emergency vets to get him a sedative or not.

Sorry, should have read back through your posts. Well I am not a vet so cannot comment on that one, but presumably they say this to prove he is sexually mature. Sounds to me as if he certainly is that alright! Joking apart I really would speak to your vets again, although that won't solve your immediate problem. Can't really offer anymore help, I'm afraid, is it possible to send Amber to your in-laws for a few days? Hope he settles down soon.

you will need to keep them separate for the month

i had 3 bitches and one entire male he would stop eating, be sick all the time, whining like mad etc but he was ok if i kept him in the house and them out the house. and he wasnt just like that at peak time it was right until the end of the season

i used bitch spray and season tablets too they did help a tiny bit.

once hes back and the season is done give the bitch a good bath and disinfect everywhere that she has been while shes been in season or the scent will still drive him mad

then in 3 months get her speyed

personally i would rather get the bitch speyed than the dog as it benefits her health wise against cancers etc although its said to help a male if done before 2yo.

my dog has given me no reason to get him done so the 3 bitches got done (less mess too LOL)
