I never had a Malinois but I just loved this description of a pup that needs a new home, talk about honest! As they should be.
The ad is for a female pure bred Malinois around 16 weeks old.
She shows the following very breed typical traits:
1. She wants to bite everything and everyone that moves. If this scares you off and you’re not thinking “that’s exactly what I want” then you may as well skip the rest...
2. No amount of exercise really tires her for more that about 4 minute naps during waking hours. Forget chilling infront of Netflix for 3 hours and also forget walking around barefoot (see number 1)
3. On the matter of sleep she quarterises your night into 4 slices and during the intervals bites your face/nose/hands whilst making cute noises or cries at the baby gate to get into the bedroom if she’s not there already until you relent. Her day starts at 5:30am and so does yours
4. She is great at play and will do it with anything she finds. If this is a shoe or a childs toy she will feel zero remorse smashing it up and biting the crap out of it. Same is true of leads, clothes and furniture and wires if she can get to them
5. She’s very playful with our other dogs and by that I mean she will chase them relentlessly and bark in their faces. When they run she pursues them like they just stole her last roll
6. She will happily meet dogs out and about on or off lead but would rather just look at you in the hope that there is a toy or treat in it for her if given the chance which is a good thing but if you want to be the person who takes their puppy to picnics with friends she might not be the right dog
7. She will climb out of any pen the second a food toy finishes or something more interesting happens outside of said pen - tying her to me whilst I sit and work and ignoring her biting my legs in the only real way to get her to chill
8. She will bite cats and children but only because she’s a Malinois puppy - she’s not bad.
9. Everything is fair game. If you love it lock it away. If she’s not entertained she will entertain herself and this will likely not end well for any livestock or anything pretty in reaching distance from her (or jumping distance).
She is also very cute. She’s lovely to work with and super smart. She’s very affectionate and very funny and very busy. She’s also very environmentally robust and seems to like humans and other dogs which is great.
