Mallanders and energy

My instructor has suggested that I should feed some oats for a little more ooomph. Only issues is my cob suffers from mallanders, currently under control but wasn't sure if oats would affect it?
I suspect he is more familiar with warmbloods and tbs than cobs!

I wouldn't! Does your cob need more oomph? Why? Is it more of a schooling issue?

What weight is your cob? If extra calories are not needed then do not feed oats.

I don’t think oats will affect the mallenders…but might adversely affect other aspects of behaviour
