My cob is fully clipped out all year round and I can't seem to get his legs to heal. A good drenching of baby oil seems to do the job at getting rid of the scabs but his skin is very pink underneath - what is the best thing to put on once all of the scabs have gone? What ingredients should I be looking out for to promote healing? I think his diet is OK, just Thunderbrooks chaff and a Progressive Earth balancer. Many thanks!

Baby oil is really not very good stuff - I wouldn't put it on a baby tbh! It is perfumed, perfume can burn delicate skin. I get Flamazine from the vet for mine but it is prescription only, you can buy silver cream otc, it's expensive but good.

I have only ever used salty water to clean and then sudocreme on top. I did fleetingly use silver cream too and that worked for a really stubborn patch. I also started adding linseed to his feed and that may or may not have made a difference, but this year there is far less of it.
