Mare has filled mammary glands at the moment. She is the sweetest un hormonal mare you will ever meet but they are so sore and if you touch them she will tail swish and threaten to kick which is so unlike her. She also currently can't stand geldings being around her, when hacking out the other day she launched herself at one.
She's definitely not in foal nor has she ever had one. Vets scanned ovaries and couldn't see anything abnormal. Have sent bloods away to have hormone levels analysed which have all come back normal. Someone even suggested removing Soya from her diet as this can supposedly play havoc with mares, did this about 2 weeks ago now but yet to see any improvement. Shes clearly quite sore as shes standing with her whole hind end tucked underneath. Vets a little baffled but coming out for a second look in a few days. Anyone have any idea about this?

Is there clover in her field? I had one do this to the extent I could actually milk her and it turned out clover was the cause. I got a muzzle which stopped her getting the clover plus some herbs recommended by the lady at Equinatural and she was back to normal in no time!
