Man dies after being bitten by his own dog?

just sat and read the whole lot of this (admittedly whilst drinking beer!).

My take on this is that it seems unfair to condem a breed due to size etc.

I have never owned dogs until now and I currently have a rhodesian ridgeback x kelpie and another ridgeback x rottie. The rottie x is the softest dopiest thing I have ever come across! I am sensible with them and they are well trained but I don't doubt that if she decided to bite it would bloody hurt!

Over here a lot of people own rotties and they are very soft dogs. The worst dog is the cattle dog and most people will have a tale to tell about how dangerous and nasty they are.

Each to their own I say

I tried playing dead with our old border collie when he was young - I didn't repeat it. He flew into a frenzy and pawed, licked, barked, nudged fiercely and try to roll over the person on the floor........I don't think it would have taken much for it to have turned more aggressive.

I tried with our whippets. At first they ignored me... so I tried again and more fell to the floor with a noise. Instantly both of them where at my head nudging and scratching me to get up.

Very interesting!

And as sight hounds, if a v small child ran past them - I bet they could do some damage. Small they may be, but they are natural hunters - will happily chase anything that moves and have killed rabbits easily.

They have v sharp teeth and are amazingly strong for their size.

Most vicious dog I've ever met - yorkshire terrier - I hate the nasty, nippy little rats with a passion!

Love rotties though, a friend has two and I wrestle with them!
