forget the "cared for" rubbish. IMO he killed his dog to get rid of the evidence.
I am a HUGE fan of staffies - who normally get the blame for these attacks (Pits are not allowed be bred in this country) - I have 2 and sometimes 3 when I get my sisters. The watchword is "terriers" - they are active and highly intelligent but were originally bred to be a true family dog. I am careful when I introduce them to other dogs as both mine are rescues and do not like strange dogs leaping on them - fine when they are introduced or will give me plenty of warning if they are not sure - and they are brilliant at the yard. The ones we have had from scratch (puppies) are always fine with strange dogs. I get involved with rescue for these poor dogs and the rescues/pounds over overflowing with these dogs - bred for quick money, bred to give "status" to idiots with no brains and then dumped. My older bitch is frequently "used" by anxious parents to introduce yelling/small children to dogs as she is brilliant with them and teaches them not to put their face next to hers (they get her tongue across her face) Forget the "staffie" bit - focus on "terrier" and then you can see why these mindless thugs who do NOT exercise their dogs, do NOT socialise them ruin this breed. Next time you see some delinquent dragging a poor staffie on a short chain, please do what I do = embarrass the hell out of the idiot when i go up to make a fuss of said dog who then gives me the staffie smile and normally shows their tummy for a rub and a cuddle.
