Hoping to take a friends mare on loan as a second horse for next season but the only hang up with her is that she has arthritis in one of her hocks. She's going to be in hard work all spring and summer and needs to be kept in good nick so she lasts me for a few years.
When she eventually comes up I'd like to get her on some sort of joint suplement. Although I've used cortiflex and found it good I'm relictant to spend that amount on a supplement when I'm sure there are others which are just as good without the pricetag! Morrigan_Lady speaks quite highly of the vetvits joint suplement, any other suggestions?
Is there anything else that can be done to help?

My ISH has the same prob and I swear by cortiflex, but my friend is trying kentucky liquid joint supplement which she reckons is just as good and not as expensive. Good luck with her.

I can whole-heartedly recommend Premierflex HA by Equine America if you're buying off the shelf or, if you can get a prescription, Cosequin is amazing stuff!!

I use JointFX, made by Fortius I think. My vet recommends it - he told me he'd done research on all of them, worked out what was in them all, which contained the most and best of each active ingredient, and JointFX works out to be the best. Mine is sound on it
