mane and tail conditoner recipe??

I went to the saddery the other day to buy a botte of car, day and matin canter mane and tail because i LOVE the stuff but it was £11 for 500ml bottle.....ouch!

ive been playing about with making my own but the ones ive made are not very good at all.

Does anyone have a recipe for a mane and tail spray????

Bump!!
I get through gallons of the stuff so homemade everyday alternative would be interesting A lady i know uses furniture polish!!... it worked beautifully but ive never fancied trying it.... my thin skinned TB would probably break out in hives and tail fall out ... and then theres the issue of housework is the last thing i want to be reminded of while i ride!!!

I always used furniture polish...worked well for my gelding with a thick curly tail!

Lady I know uses furniture polish too! Doesn't seem quite right to me...! I used to use a product called Cowboy Magic which was great, not sure if you can still get it though or how much it costs.

Pig oil is cheap and amazing - can be used on the coat as well as mane and tail.

If you want it to smell nice, you can add a few drops of essential oil too, or pop a bit of tea tree oil in it for anti-fly conditioner.

Avon Skin So Soft dry oil spray (blue bottle) is amazing as both a fly spray and a mane and tail conditioner - and smells lovely!

I tried the furniture polish thing but after a few days it made her tail feel quite sticky. No likey. Didn't know the SSS thing but wouldn't that make it feel really greasy. I do her tail daily so it always feels silky and never have a problem getting the brush through it.

Conditioning the tail after shampooing makes it less dry in the first place too :0)
