Mane and tail growth

My dad had a lovely mare who had a beautiful tail when we got her, because he liked to brush her and especially liked to brush out her tail, it soon broke off at the ends and becamse thin and whispy. Sometimes you need to leave their mane and tail alone if you want it to grow. My mare does not have a particularly thick tail. I tend to give it a wash rather than brush it out, in fact I never brush it properly because it would quickly go scrappy and thin at the ends.

If you want a supplement, Farriers Formula tends to make the tail and mane grow.

It might be that the life cycle of each hair is short

in which case there will be nothing you can do to improve it.

Only comparing it to human hair which has a lifecycle of between 3 and 7 years before the hair drops out and a new one grows......... which is why some people can grow their hair to their waists and others can only get to shoulders!! Also eyelashes and eye brows only have a 6 week life cycle and thats why they stay short!!

Hope that makes sense
