I am hoping someone can help. My 10 year old highland x mare used to have a full mane. Strangely a chunk of mane got thinner and thinner and struggled to grow back,m. I had the vet do allergy tests and she did show to have some allergies. she is turned out in a boett rug and has cavalesse in her food however I am starting to think her mane might be more alopecia or another condition. today I hogged her mane and you can see the skin underneath is struggling. The hair that is still trying to grow, grows in thick corkscrews causing a small amount of puss to build at the root. I think I am going to have the vet out again but has anyone come across anything like it? Tia has never itched her mane enough to cause damage, he skin has never been broke. or even looked sore.
