My horse wont let me pull his mane so Ive done it for years with a solo comb and it looks ok, its really thick, sticks up in the middle but aways has done. He was sedated for his teeth so we (cruel I know) pulled it much thinner whilst he was zonked and it looked great. Well its started growing and its gone like a bog brush, and is now falling on the other side. I cant understand why and wish we had never pulled it as for years with a solo comb this never happened. You would think the solo comb cutting it at the roots would make it stand up but its only happened since pulling it properly.
Any advice?

prob a bit short and when it grows a bit and gets a bit of weight it`ll be ok and flop back over.
i have put little bunches in before and left them a week+,that helps it stay over.put the bands at the bottom or you will break the hair farther up and have sticky up bits.pull the hair underneath the bunch a bit shorter to make it fold over.

Thanks I will have to bunch it up. I thought at first it was his half neck rug causing it to go over the other side but thats off now. We didnt take much off the length as it was already reasonably short, we just tried to get the bulk out. He has a thick native type mane thats looking pretty bad at the moment. Wish he'd took after the TB
