Mane - Lie Flat

My horse seems to have developed over the past couple of months a mane that is simular to a mohican!!

So I have decided today to train it, firstly I thinned it out because it was mega thick (which i think is why it was sticking up in the first place) and then I have plaited it so the plaits are now lying down and mane look semi normal..

Does anyone have any tips on what to do next and if so how long should I leave the plaits in for!!!

Your wisdom would be much appreciated....

I have the same problem. I pulled it too short so now its sticking up and staying that way!

I think the only thing to do is to keep wetting it down with water brush and continue plaiting it every few days untill hopefully its trained back to normal.
I get so frustrated with it sometimes i just want to take the clippers to it - but i wouldnt

My mare only had half a mane and that was on the wrng side when I got her. I kept pulling the top half until the bottom half caught up,then plaited over to the right side and left it for 24 hours. That did the job Haven't had to do anything since.

I pulled sunbeam's mane yesterday , went a bit short

Plaited it over so it would lie to the right as it prefers to go left, went down this morning and he rubbed 3 plaits out

so now has a six inch bald section in the middle of his mane!

( and the plaits weren't tight either) He has a show in 3 weeks!

I used to leave Barons in for about 3 days, did this about once a week for a month or so. There is still a little section that sometimes goes over to the other side though. I trained his from the left to the right.

My mate pulled hers to short though and its taking ages to grow back. She used a solo comd instead of pulling so its made it even worse. If you pull it from the underneath it encourages it to lie flatter but she just hacked away at random places about 3 months ago and although its grown now it still sticks up
