Mane pulling....arrrggghhhhh

I had a friend see pics of my boys yesterday and she nearly fainted when she saw their manes...esp. Comanche's as they are long. I was promptly told they were disgusting and I should get my act together and sort them out...!!!! What is the obsession with pulling manes..??? I dont like it and would rather plait than pull. Is it really a crime against horsedom to leave them "au naturel"..??

I don't see the problem with au natural. Some of the heavier breeds suit it.

It's just a matter of taste. They're your horses, so it's up to you.

I like some horses and ponies with long manes, others don't seem to suit it. When Mollie arrived she had a long thick but straggly, uneven and broken mane. It looked awful, gave her a very neglected look. I think she suits a tidy one much better.
