Mane Pulling!

His not mine although it may well end up being mine!

Today I thought I'd pull Chesters mane as it is about 2.5 inches too long.

So I got my step... I got my mettle curry comb.... I got my humane gadget incase it failed..... and I realised his mane is all the same length!!!! I can't back comb the shorter bits up!!!!

Any advice on what to do would be very welcome as I'm at a loss!!!

I would use a solo comb too. I know lots of people don't like them but I'm not sure why, I find them much easier on fluffy native manes :)
 
There is a great video on YT although damned if I can find it. It's basically a pro groom doing a video for horse and rider I think, she says that she actually uses a combination of scissors and pulling as her employees expect the mane and plaits to be the same thickness/size throughout. She uses the scissors to trim the thinner bits, not taking any thickness and cutting the hair upwards to maintain a natural finish and pulls the thicker bits.
 
Just had another look and there is a very similar video called 'using scissors to trim the mane' she basically uses a dual approach too (scissors and pulling) but uses a different method with the scissors which looks to give a good effect
