We are looking to buy a manege leveller / grader and have a cushionride surface. Given that these are not cheap, just wanted people's thoughts on which ones are good and which ones you would not recommend. Will be towing with a 4x4.

Thanks in advance x

Depends how much you would like to spend, a simple small grass harrow would do the trick or even a set of chain harrows, with a grader/leveler, you are there for ages pulling sand round with you trying to fill holes in.

Two tyres on a piece of wood used to level mine, lol.
Unfortunely the arena is now 7 years old and rubbish, middle is still ok but the two ends are just mush and very deep . Just had someone look at it to see if it is worth topping up but they said the underneath has disappeared completely at one end. I wouldn't recom. them as when we asked for advice they were not helpful or interested!

The firm that built our silica sand arena said commercial levellers were expensive and recommended this ,
Use a 2metal sheephurdles welded together one on top of the other Fix(weld) a chain to each end and you can then tow it behind the 4x4 .My husband added some rake type spikes welded to the back egde of the hurdle to get a comb effect .
Metal sheep hurdles cost around £25 each new.Agricultural merchants will sell them
You could also use a gate but would need something like an 8ft one
You may be able to pick up metal sheephurdles or a gate cheaper at a farm sale or farm type car boot.
We use ours every couple of days and it works a treat.
I guess this would also work with cushionride,We use a quad to pull it but a 4x4 could equally do it.
