Can anyone recommend a surface that offers value for money and quality? Also, can anyone recommend someone to install a manege in the midlands? South Leics?

Thank you!

Where we take the horses away on holiday lots, they have china clay in their school and it is the most amazing, floaty stuff to work on. It was free. However, they have a china clay quarry a few miles away!

I quite like woodchip as again it is quite floaty to work on and is relatively cheap.

Not sure about installers, though.

Thanks Carrie1983 - I've ridden in a woodchip school before and I found it got horribly deep in winter. Maybe it just wasn't maintained properly?

I don't think there's a China Clay quarry anywhere close lol!

Hehe!

Have you ever tried rubber?

I have to say that the woodchip school I tried was in the middle of summer so that may be why! The school at my yard is horrible - building sand. Will be looking to build our own manege soon as well.

Is it you building a school?

Haha - yes - the woodchip at my old yard was fine in the summer....

It's not for my school, no - it's a long story! I told YO I was leaving last night because of the school and she's looking into getting it done

It's like building sand at the moment - sounds similar to yours.

Thanks nuffield

Haha! Yes - I'm not sure she'll get it done but I told her it would need to be bigger with a decent surface if I was to move back from other yard. She emailed me earlier saying she's getting quotes! From the sound of it she's been on the phone all day!
