*sigh* I am blessed with a horse who's mane, when pulled, mysteriously transforms in to a mohawk. I decided to grow it out, however now it is at this sort of length, it makes him look a bit.. awkward? He looks very handsome in a running braid, which sorts it out when it comes to competing, but I would love for you to share your mane styling ideas, images and so on.. I was considering hogging it, but growing it this long has taken such time and patience!

Would love to see your pictures!

:p

do you pull it or cut/solocomb it?

I'll be honest and say mum does it, i dont get chance to practise so just let her do it properly!

Just be grateful it isn't like this! Charley's mane is actually about 12" long, it doesn't sound much until you consider he is only 32". It NEVER stays down however long it gets.

I agree, just take another couple of inches off, still long enough to braid for parties then.

He is seriously cute!

Pull to thin and solo comb to shorten. My Clydie has a mane around 2' long and I desperately wish it would thicken up.

Enfys, he's like a little porcupine pony :D

I'd agree with others - pull it to thin it and solocomb it :)

i love that little porcupine pony- he is the coolest wee dude i've ever seen!!

Willows mane is driving me nuts... its thicker than any native i have ever seen... i wish i'd started pulling it when she was 6 months old and it was normal...

i've started pulling it... but surprise surprise she hates it!! its a two man job at the mo...

solo comb is good for a quick pulled look if your horse has a thin mane...

anyone fancy a holliday to skye to pull a mammoth mane??!!

x

Aha, I just returned from my mane pulling quest aaand... it is short! I can actually see his neck now, I took much more than two inches off because it was looking a bit dodgy at that length. Just need to thin it out a little and he will be done :) pictures tomorrow, thanks everyone!

DON'T use the solo comb!!!!!!!!

If you have bogbrush tendancies, it will look lovely when you do it, but a couple week down the line it will turn into a bog brush and be a disaster!!! The you'll want to just hog it again.

Been there done that. Let it grow and get someone to pull it properly if you can't do it yourself.

Can't wait to see pictures... Every time I pull NAS,s mane I only get so far and then by the time I start again it's grown back to original length.

I wanna spiky pony sooo cute.

Spiky pony, porcupine pony:D

It was a good hair day today as far as Charley goes!

I hate pulling manes, I confess that I did use the Oster Rake on the riding ponies and with the haffy I used to just clip the whole darn lot off.
