Manouevres that define the Western Horse

If you find reining as dull as ditchwater, maybe you need to ride it from the real side - https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=gGYLm4pjpOI

Let us know how many spins you count.
Sorry, the link isn't working for me.

It is the sheer repetitiveness of the thing, one horse after the other, whether dressage, or reining that I find dreary, and as for any sort of showing... I can watch maybe 3 or 4 and that is it before I start nodding off, I have a very low boredom threshold, I can't help it, I also find the constant swishy tails and hauled in heads of dressage horses as unattractive as the artificially low head carriage of some of the reiners.

As I said before I appreciate the work that goes into it all, but it doesn't rock my boat, exactly the same as I love rodeo and all cattle work but I don't expect everyone else to. Horses for courses.

We have two QH. Half sisters too. :) both regularly seen performing spins, roll backs and stops in their large field at play. We did breed a little colt and at 2 weeks old he was doing a reining pattern around mum. :) They can go from 0mph to 's**t off a shovel' in record time and then revert to donkey like proportions. I love the border collie analogy... Pretty much sums it up! :D
