I used some on my pony's infected cut, after advice from peeps on here and at the yard. I bought 10+ Sainsbury's own brand, and it seemed to really do the trick. Kept the flies away too. The vet also advised me to keep using it. Good stuff!

As long as you get the 10+ stuff it doesn't matter where you get it from - supermarkets, health food shops, chemists etc all stock it.
It is used a lot in hospitals etc now for wound care. Have a look in Vet section there have been a few threads in there about it.

I used it on a nasty wound on one of mine, on the advice of the vet.
It seemed to work really well, and i would recomend it, although i obviously don't know how the wound would have responded without it, maybe just as well, maybe not.

Aaaahh righti o I thought it was some weird and wonderful honey that could only be bought if you knew the right winks and nudges
..but I have to get the 10+
will see what Mr Sainsburys has tomorrow.
Been advised to put it on foalies wound which healed then flared up again with infection so on another course of antibiotics and now honey

Well I tried some tonight before I applied to foalie...and it does taste like honey but quite strong...and as I'm full of a cold tasted very nice but numbed my throat

IF you have a cold you should have a spoonful a day - just let it dissolve of the spoon like a lolly - will help it clear up quicker.
It does have a strong taste but its not unpleasant.

Edinburgh vet school had a woman in doing a research trial on various horses with open wounds. Can't remember the exact results but the general gist was it was more effective that any drugs or medicated bandages going.
