What is it for?
Where do you get it?
Does it work?

My horse has a small cut on his mouth and a friend suggested manuka honey

Thanks

I remember when a friends pony got caught up in wire he had terrible cuts which needed stitches, her vet suggested Manuka honey and told her it was incredible stuff. Funnily enough I have been thinking of updating both my horses and families first aid boxes today and was thinking of getting some myself. I think you can get it from the supermarkets but have not looked yet.:)

The strongest manuka honey has been tested for its antibacterial activity, and has UMF logo on the product. The Unique Manuka Factor is the strength of the manuka honey. For deeper wounds use sterilised manuka honey, this works wonders.

Even if he licks it off it won't matter - it will help from the inside:) Just put more on. As some one else has said is must have a UMF of above 10+ but it works brilliantly:)

There is a mare here who gets really bad rubs/ulcers on her lips her owner had tried everything with out success (including stuff from the vet) I pursauded her to try the Manuka and it was healed and gone in no time at all :)

Well I thought I was being clever by dipping a carrot in the honey and then rubbed it on his cut. The bugger spat it out. Not impressed at all.
Funny boy.
