Unfortunately bills big wound is starting to break down, which was always a 70% risk of Happening given how deep (went through Fascia!!) and big it is and where it is. Vets had a good poke round & removed all remaining stitches - bill was very good and just stood there while vet poked proded and stuck a finger in lol.
Going to be proud flesh as expected, but priority at minute is to get wound smaller and healing better. He thinks honey is the way to go, which I'm happy to do.
Problem is, is it better to go with pure honey over the wound or a honey dressing?
It's an awkward area to bandage, because of trying to reduce tendon pressure the bandage isn't very tight, but then because he's moving about the bandage tends to slip. But at least the honey is covered. With the honey straight on I'm a bit concerned about flies/wasps etc. going on to it and irritating wound and Bill.
Has anyone every had any problems with insects when putting manuka honey on?
