Many Norfolk people on here?

By the way the White Horse has just been bought & is re-opening soon.
They have always let riders park trailers there & you can tie horses up in their car park.
Let's hope new owners are horse friendly too.

Wow, thats good news about the White Horse. The people we are buying from said they were struggling to sell it cos the guy next door had claimed half their driveway and stuck a fence up and as that was the only way to deliver the beer barrels it was putting people off, but obviously they have overcome that. Fantastic, will be great to have a put a couple of minutes walk away. Yes, I have seen horses there in the past too.

Anyone from Norfolk going to the endurance world championship at Euston.
I don't think it's really a spectator sport.
Please feel free to correct me.
Maybe someone from Norfolk will be crewing??

Hi - another Norfolk Bod. I am on the border of Shipdham and Dereham, anyone local and over 40 would know it as the site of the 'old' Dereham horse shows. We have 3 at the moment. Honey Monster, an aged sec A companion pony that only a masochist would dare to try riding, my old girl Flicka who is broken and my daughter has Bill, a 5yo ISH. Don't know about Kimblewick, I do know a few who ride at Manor Farm in Scarning. We used to ride at Tully Lodge - sadly long closed. I love Norfolk.

I think I know where you are is it H Farm?
If that is not the Old Dereham horse show site, then I must be clearly not local or perhaps not over 40!!!!!

Do you & your daughter pop next door, or do they not do events there any more.
I have not been there for years.
Used to take babies there for xc schooling & hire their jumping arena for their natural water tray & jumps.
I used to pop £5 through the letter box, that was the hire fee.
I think I should stop now as I am clearly showing my age ;-(

I am hoping to pop along. We have the Australian and Danish teams staying at our yard. Coblet has had to give up her stable for a very handsome Australian horse lol. They arrived yesterday and I think the Danish team are arriving end of next week.

Bit late to the original thread, but hoping to be back on the Norfolk/Suffolk borders next year :)

Can someone give me more info on the Stanton rides, is it just the bridleway/RUPP routes and are they all connected?

Gosh the aussies are early, guess horses need to adjust after long trip.
That all sounds exciting.
Is it a spectator sport would you say?
I thought once bambino's are both at school I wouldn't mind having a go at that, I might have time to keep horses fit then!!!!
Although I think you need a crew on route my OH has already said count him out :-(

Can't believe how popular this Norfolk thread is! I lived in Norwich years ago, worked on the local newspaper, and for some mad reason kept my horse in Southwold which was ridiculously far away. Wish I'd had internet and known about all these wonderful places to hack near Norwich. Rubbish result for my youth. But a great, and often (then away) strange place to live.

We went and had a nosy last year. It is a bit of an eyeopener and no expense spared by the arab contingent ! There isn't a great amount to see, you see the horses coming in and setting off again and can watch them being vet checked, but it is pretty interesting and well worth a couple of hours of your time ! Met the Australians tonight. They were very friendly and their horses all seem pretty chilled out and relaxed.

Yes definitely go and have a look. It is interesting and the massive marquees the arabs have are amazing! They had a few stalls there last year and it is fascinating to see the horses coming in and watching the teams cool them down.

Ahh now I think you mean Horse Shoe Farm, about 1 mile from us - this is where the Eastern Connemara Group do their shows and yes you can still hire it and I think it is still £5.

Does any one ride at redhall riding school near norwich? Or Kimblewick near north tuddenham?

Redhall is down the road from me - I have a feeling they sneakily ride on the farm where I keep my horse so not sure what they're normal hacking is like. Lessons are standard.

Kimblewick is good, but when I used to go (about 6 years ago) it was mainly geared to kids and nervy bee adults.

Manor Farm for me personally is fine for hacking, but resented being told off for 'kicking' a horse that refused to move after 2 tries of squeezing and a nudge.

Kensington Lodge is good if they are still doing lessons.

How's the move going?
Will you still be in Norfolk or are you border hopping?

End of september we will be moving and yes we will be hopping just over the border into Suffolk ! There is an opening ceremony for the World Endurance Championships next Thursday evening which is meant to be pretty good and anyone can go to it. The Australians have well settled into our yard, they are all having a go at the dressage which is taking place tomorrow lol

Caramac I bet you are going to the opening ceremony tonight.
Let us know what they do (can't imagine what it's all about), I did hear they have got like a henman hill with large screens to watch it on.
I can't make it tonight but I am going to pop over there on Saturday morning to see what goes on with this Endurance thingy. Should make the effort as it's only 10 minutes away.

I used to keep my horse at Red Hall and learnt to ride there, the lessons aren't amazing but they do the basics. The hacking there is rubbish, it used to take me and my horse 20 mins to walk around the whole hack track.
Where do you keep yours Nugget La Poneh?
