My four year old ginger chestnut mare is exceptionally flirty at the best of times. But she’s in season AGAIN. It’s literally every three weeks. Has been since the spring. Took my
Gelding through her field yesterday and she was shoving her bum in his face and squirting. Threatened with her back leg this morning when I put the girth on first hole. She’s on NAFF oestrogess which is a liquid form. From local tack shop. Is there anything else I could try? Other people’s experiences. She’s next to three boys and a very butch old girl.

If your mare is healthy and well she will cycle every three weeks during the spring/summer. She will stop cycling when the days get shorter and the weather colder. This is nature looking after the young - the horse has an 11 months gestation period and a naturally a mare should foal when the grass is good for feeding and the weather is good for the young foal to thrive. Sadly you cannot change nature!

Thank you for your replies. I’ve had mares in the past but not one like this. Don’t think my old lady ever had one !

I expect your last mare just wasn't so obvious.

I've had mares who were a complete madam during their season, but have also had mares that were really subtle and you had to really pay attention to notice signs they were in season.

Bit like us I suppose. Everyone around me knows when I'm having a 'season' and to keep a wide berth! ?

Agnus Castus is the basis of most mare supplements, just buy it from ebay. I had a mini who had dreadful squirty dirty seasons and agnus castus was a great help.

Those three week cycles do come round quick when you have one like this but yes, as others have said, completely normal.
Agnus Castus is meant to be very good if you can get her to eat it. I understand the whole berries can be more palatable than the powder.

Yep this is fab. There’s a mare on my yard that is literally the devil reincarnated unless she’s on this, to the point she was scanned and had her hormones checked. She’s just a cow

just looked on Amazon. The ‘human’ Angus cactus tablets are about 5 pounds a month. The horse ones are 20 pounds. Wonder if they are the same? As surely just herbal. Seems a lot cheaper.

You can buy it in powder or granule form by the kilo. That's what you need.
