Hi folks,
I am driving myself mad with worry.
Last month my mare seemed to look uncomfortable behind. Stetching a bit like she might colic and one night see got really sweaty. I noticed she seemed to be drinking a bit more but I had got her a salt lick so wondered if that was the cause. She was eating normally and droppings normal. I got the vet who found one blade of shaving that looked very red like blood. She suggested we gave a 5 day cause of antibiotics as a precaution and she took bloods. My mare seemed fine and the bloods came back clear for everything, nothing raised. She seems to be fine. Eating and drinking normally. I am now paranoid about my mare. I try to catch her peeing. Trying to work out if she is peeing enough or too much or volume too much/too little. Yesterday I found a blade of shaving that looked red - like the one the vet found. Should I push for the vet to investigate more or should I try to relax and keep an eye in her?

Mares can do this - how old is she. We have a Cushingoid who is very much like this and takes ages to move after urination. Our new wood-pellets are blood red, when wet. If there was blood in it, she would likely be far more uncomfortable and the bed would show it up clearly. How long has she been on the ABs and have they symptoms subsided?
