I can see why people say the ‘once you win a mares heart, you win all of her’ saying.

Yesterday my partner walked my mare in while I sorted the water out. She always storms in, but she kept stopping and turning around. I caught them up and she whinnied, then marched in.

This morning I put her on the walker, everytime I walked past she would wicker at me. Even if I had my hood up, she knew exactly who I was (and it’s a busy yard!)

Just a couple of things I thought was very sweet

Anyone else bonded to a particular horse?

My 2 chat to me all the time they both wicker to me when doing ground work if I move towards them, and if I call them I normally get a neigh back so sweet

When I go a run and pass the horses fence and they are close by they will canter beside me, until they hit the very wet part of their field. I’m fairly sure they click my car and watch me coming home too but that might be them just wanting to come in more than see me

My mare had the biggest huff ever when I had a month off last summer following surgery.
She turned her big white ass on me when I came up to visit and even when I was back doing her full time she was very offhand with me but showed great affection to the staff member who had been doing her during my absence.

In winter my pony calls when he sees me when he is in the stable or winter turnout.
Once the grass is through and they go out I'm half forgotten

one of my Girls likes to plonk her head on mine when she’s tired and lean down all her weight and sleep, and Bailey likes to always greet me with those soulful eyes to get some scratches, they both always greet me and when they are grazing they answer to their names gotta love it

My mare is very talkative too. Once the trust is there with a mare they will do anything for you - that is very true.
