hey - was schooling my mare tonight and she always seems to get the better of me round corners, she either naps or cuts them completely - really annoying. Its a new schooling area for her so do you think its just that she is not used to it and a bit spooky? She's fine in the other schools she's been in with me. Good news is she is jumping well though - we started today for first time in few months and she was brilliant so at least it was a positive session but is there anything I can practice with the corners?

Thankies Audrey x

My mare sometimes tries to fall in around corners on an approach to a jump and I find it helps to either do a small shoulder in on the approach to the corner or even a leg yield deep into the corner depending on how much she is trying to evade me.

Something else you can try is lifting the inside rein up so that it brushes against her hair from the bottom of her neck to the top as you go round the corner. Sounds bizarre but it works!
