hi guys, looking for some advice.

My mare waxed up last saturday (6days ago now) it started off clear, then turned a yellow colour and then a white creamy colour. was told by the vet that 'when she waxes up ur 24-48 hours away' that obv didnt happen.

But tonight brought her in from the field and she was dripping from her udders. the best way to describe it would be like a leaky tap, not a stream of milk and it was white and creamy in colour.

Also her vulva is WAY more realxed, before i could parely part it with my fingers ( she has a caslicks removed 2weeks ago and so had been gently making sure it wasnt knitting back together). But now it can open right up and seems darker in colour. She is also desperate for me to scratch her not at her bum but at eaither side of ger vulva and if I dont scratch it she will scratch it up on her hay net pretty vigorously.

What are other peroples experiences and have they experienced anything similar.
totally sleep deprived and ready for its arrival.

Ash x

It's too late for you to get milk testing strips tonight but there is one thing you can try (if you are not too grossed out by it!). Milk her and taste and feel the milk. If it is thick and very sticky, like glue, then you have colostrum. If it tastes sweet like nectar then you have colostrum. If it is not sticky and tastes salty then you don't have colostrum yet. If it is colostrum then your mare should foal within 24 hours.

well i didnt taste it but i did drip some onto my hand and it wasnt very thick, quite watery so maybe we arent quite there yet.

Well Rose foaled last night anyway!!!

She had a very strong, athletic and large (a few ours old and already standing at my hip) bay filly (i'll try to upload pics)

been watching her for weeks and the night when I couldnt be there.......

HEY PRESTO......A FOAL. (im swearing she did it on purpose).
