mare due to foal acting like a stallion

hi i have a mare that is 341 days today and she is acting like a stallion shes going round the field digging at the poos and then pooing or weeing on them she is out with another mare due to foal and she is herding her around yesterday had to get vet out as she had a white discharge which after the vet checked her found was the plug coming away from inside the cervix the vet could get two finger in cervix and foal is there ready and alive i have never seen this with any of my mares before so was wondering if anyone else had seen this behavor???

Our cob mare used to hump the mares in the field that were in season - right the way through some of her pregnancies - usually when carrying a filly, which was quite amusing when she got really big - she'd herd the mares away from the stallion and roar at everyone - confused the hell out of the poor stallion though!!! I think it is just a woosh of hormones sending them into over drive!!!

I wouldn't be happy letting my vet open her cervix like that for risk of infection and air contamination.

my vet didnt open the cervix it was alresdy open and for that reason she has put her on antibiotics to protect everything as shes open and at risk of infection!!

Well at least she is on something just in case.She must not be too far off foaling anyway.It just makes me apprehensive when I hear of vets doing things like that thats all.
