Our mare has waxed up thins morning, she is due tomorrow and its all very exciting now! we have a webcam in her stable so we can watch her from home tonight (and from work today!). this is our first foal and she is a maiden mare so any advice appriciated, we have our first aid kit ready! she is a 16hh minamally marked dark skewbald mare by stetson and the sire is Masterpiece, so fingers crossed for a coloured baby!!! of course I iwll post the pic's once it has arrived!

Can't wait to see the piccies!

OOh how exciting! Keep us posted, and hope all goes really well and that by tomorrow you have a lovely bouncing coloured foal! Its the waiting that's nerve-racking, isn't it? We are probably 1 - 2 weeks behind you, with again a maiden mare (and owner!) the nerves are really beginning to kick in!

Went to a foaling seminar recently which was really great, and one of the very practical points that came through was to make a note (even on the back of your hand!) of the time that the first and second stages of labour start, as it is so easy not to realise how long things have been going on in the excitement of the moment - and if labour is over-running, to call the vet immediately! My vet (and the vet at the seminar) has said that they would much, much rather be called out to a foaling that turns out to be normal than for owners to wait too long.

Good luck, and us first-timers will be asking your advice after the event, I'm sure!

great advice thank you, will remember to do that! good luck for your foaling when it happens for you, its very nerve-wracking now, just want to foal to be born and them both be ok! Woody is out in the field today for some fresh air, all she seems to do at the moment is eat or sleep!
