Mare in Foal hit by drunk driver, who rolled the trailer twice.

"No serious injuries"? Failed to report that the horse suffered fatal injuries. Amazed the young driver survived. I hope his family ensure he pays for this as unlikely he'll get more than a slapped wrist from the courts.

The driver of the trailer had tried to pull into the verge, and the drunk driver hit the front corner of the trailer, pulled the whole thing, towbar included, off the car and the trailer rolled twice.
Just horrible.
 
There doesn't seem to be a story on the page now, looks like maybe it has been removed? Unless it's just my laptop playing up. Just says no longer available, or something like that.

sounds absolutely horrific though. No doubt he will just be charged with something minor and get 3 points, if that.
 
Ys it has been removed, dunno why. Possibly a lot of people commented on how it was worded as if it was a mere bump.
 
No serious injuries! Really!

There would have been had that been me - I think I would have killed the driver.
 
The spine road runs between my home town Bedlington through to Ashington Northumberland, its has hit a lot of us hard here as we are a large horse based community.
I hope the person driving that car gets everything they deserve but with how the courts will look at it i don't see that happening, they get a ban, a fine with community serve for good measure.
Sicking.
 
this is very local to me and was very sad , the road was closed for about 3 hours yesterday , although it wasn't the spine road it happened along the QE2 road between woodhorn/ashington and linton
thoughts are with the owners but i'm pleased they have removed the terrible photos they posted on facebook last night
 
I would lock the driver up and throw away the key...I can't bear it that the life of an animal seems of little or no consequence to the courts. I truly don't know what the answer is...
 
oh dear god. will he ever understand the tears he caused as does any drunk driver killing man or beast. thoughts with all connected with the poor mare. x
 
Sad for everyone involved. The lad should at least be banned although it doesn't help the owner of the horse or the poor horse.
Drivers lie this make my blood boil

unfortunately some people do not treat animals as having feelings, just a piece of meat. They may not been any serious injuries to the humans, and to some that is all that matters, but a horse is a living thing that would of suffered immensely. Also the owners and anyone involved will suffer mentally.

My thoughts are with the owners, friends and family but also the service personal involved in the accident.

Yep, we've had accidents around here and they have reported animals hurt...cannot understand why such a tragic equine fatality would be pushed aside. Sad :(

The owners, old and new will not get over this!
