O.k so went to bring in my 16 yr old mare tonight and she was pacing in circles around the gate (she had made a nice muddy path in the field) she was slightly tucked up sweaty between her back and front legs, and looked quite anxious.
She was not out alone, and does not normally do this.
I brought her in and the gelding from the field next door was also in being groomed. My mare settled in her stable , munched her hay and didnt seem up nor down. However she was displaying signs of being very in season towards the gelding! Almost squating with her tail and ass in his face, and squirting everywhere. yuck i know
When I put her back out with the other horses the gelding was still in being groomed and she began the pacing/ circling again, and neighing on him.
The strange thing is she has a gelding in the same field as her and she does not seem remotely interested in him?
I've never noticed her behaving like this before when in season, do you think its normal?
