Hi,
My mare has pretty strong seasons - she shows and winks loads, squeals at nothing, I have to drag her through the yard if vaguely in the vicinity of geldings but at least she doesn't really get any moodier, she's just a real floosie.
Tonight though my yard manager said she looked uncomfortable when she was arching her back whilst squirting/winking. I don't think this is anything unusual for her and I guess I've got used to it but now I'm wondering if it's normal or whether I should get the vet to check.
Any thoughts?
I didn't ride her tonight but did on Friday when she was like this and she was fine (apart from flirting with all the guys)
Thanks

My mare is like this, I put her on to the Oestress supplement and it has worked a treat so may be worth a go :)

Some mares are more hormonal, others aren't. A bit like humans. There are all sorts of potions you can give you mare to try to remedy her tartiness but if it doesn't bother you and she's not suffering, then why do it. About the back arching, as I say, it's normal, lots of mares do this when they are winking.
