Our pony is new to us, on viewings and since having her approx a month had no issues lovely handle all the time. Although we did have some difficulties getting her past a particular mare at first but since the othrr mare moved shes been fine. The last few days is showing all signs of been in season, winking, calling out a bit as go past others especially mares, swishing her tail. But we've been getting some behaviour aswell, refusal to walk past some mares, we get there in end but with a lot encouragement, gone to bite. But today has been difficult to handle and whilst outside the stable has kicked out and marked the stable wall. But she is kicking out towards the colt next door, now he does like wind her up and try bite her etc but today I hadn't noticed him do anything to cause her to kick out, and she wouldn't stand still. She also reared for the first time yesterday. The seller did say she could be abit mareish in season. So I have just thought first season of the year and it's that. Does anyone else have difficult behaviour when in season? I noticed the winking etc started about 3 days ago, so I am monitoring and if the behaviour doesn't die down or appears to worsen I am going ask vet just to check her and make sure she isn't in pain etc. Appears be eating fine and plenty droppings and wet bedding in a morning.
