Mare keeps spraying/in season, any cause for concern?

I ride a mare who seems to have been in season for almost 4 weeks now. She squirts / sprays really regularly. For example yesterday I was getting her ready to ride and in about 20minutes of being fussed over she'd squirted 3 times.

I've also noticed she's especially prone to doing it if I asked her to move over by applying pressure to her side + rear leg.

Myself and her owner have tried to keep her rear end and tail as clean as possible but everything is getting covered in the icky mixture. Particularly her tail, despite regular brushing it's getting a bit matted between baths.

So... is this a cause for concern? And if not is there anything I should be looking out for that would combine with this to then make it a concern? Or is it just that awkward time of year and her first season of the year is just being a pain?

Any tips on keeping her clean and keeping her tail matt free whilst she's going through this?

Keeping clean, would it be possible to keep the tail plaited? At least then if she lifts it, it'll mostly be out of the line of fire. I also took to applying a barrier on the areas where my mares would get covered in the muck, usually whatever I had to hand like sudocreme. Just helped keep it off their skin.

Yes it can be, if its not normal for her. It can point to a hormonal issue or a cyst on the ovaries. If it doesn't stop soon i would call the vet out.
