I have had my TB mare for 10 weeks now, and im getting a bit concerned about her.
She is still tucked up, and just looks plain sad, i swear if she wear a human she would be planning her suicide

She is eating and drinking fine.

She did come to me very underweight, about 450kg, but its slowley going on and she now weigh 535kg. She should be about 550kg, she is a fine TB.

I am considering getting the vet out now, just to be sure.

What do you guys think?? Any suggestions?

Not yet, have sent off for a kit, should be here in the next few days. She has been double dosed wormed.

Don't know any of the history, but does she have company, could she be lonely or missing a previous field mate. It would appear the weight is going on her so you must be doing the right thing food wise. Hope you see some improvement soon.

Yes, but not obviously in the stable! Her baby was weaned 3 months ago, could it be that?? Its seems a long time to still be pineing though? Or is that normal??

Don't know much about weaning, but does seem that she has had quite a lot happening, foal being weaned and then a new home in quite a short space of time. Maybe it is just her demeanour, are you in touch with her previous owner perhaps they could tell you if this is normal. Our donkey spends half his time looking depressed - he is a real Eeyore! Probably would do any harm to have a word with your vet and have some blood tests .

Hv u tried introducing stable toys 2 get her mind off wot might be making her sad? I use a decahedron ball my boy loves getting his apples and carrots in that!

a boredom breaker with the little likits in to bop around that sort of thing, if blood tests show no physical probs something like that might help a bit ......
