Just wondering if anyone else had this experience. My naughty mare got into my grooming bag and tanked her way through nearly a whole bag of NAF Appy treats (1kg). She was thrilled with herself, I told her off and said we wouldn’t mention it again 😊

For two days after she was like a demented mare huffing and puffing like a dragon, like sitting on a rocket about to explode and she made some almost very successful attempts to fly. Could this behaviour really be down to the treats???

She was like a toddler who’d downed a litre of Coca Cola.

Yes totally! one of my Arabs had a small feed of power and performance and he was demented for at least 3 days.

Lol, Not just me then, I thought I was going mad blaming the treats. She’s a big old cob and she had some moves on her for a couple of days!! Nice half passes across the school which she claims she can’t do as she doesn’t understand what I’m talking about, which was all the more impressive when you consider I’d only asked her to stand.

I'm not surprised considering the two main ingredients are barley and wheat! You might as well have given her 1kg of racehorse mix!

Ingredients below from the NAF website:

Barley, Wheat, Forage Meal
(Lucerne), Linseed oil, Apple
(dried, 0.2 %).
Additives
Flavours
Apple flavouring (0.1%)

I know I'm sure I'm not the only one who hasn't thoroughly looked at whats in treats. Spend ages researching and making sure her diet is what it needs to be for her, weight, work, etc., and then pay little or no attention to whats in treats (all be it that she stole them). Lesson learnt.

Easily done! I've swapped to just giving haycobs as a 'treat', they still think it's a yummy treat, and all that's in it is compressed hay haha!
