Mare Owners who have used AI! Questionnaire here for you!

1) If you have used AI, was your mare AI'd on site at home or sent to stud?
She was on livery at a stud (5 miles from home) permanently as we have no facility to keep horses at home.

2) If your mare was AI'd at home, did the fact that you were able to obtain semen from anywhere in the country a factor for you? i.e. did you choose a stallion from a further distance away because you could physically get the semen?
Not a factor as I collected from a local stud when we knew we needed the semen.

1. Did use AI for our 2 mares - using our vets so they could stay at home.

2. Used semen from a local stallion for one mare - actually drove the hour up the road to collect the semen just after it had been collected off the stallion. Used my own stallion on the other mare so was able to collect semen and inseminate almost immediately
 
1st time was at home, 2nd at stud. Choice of stallions - UK only (closer the better) for fresh both times


JP - You reminded me, I met up with Jaxmath at Burger King (half way) to collect "goods"! - felt like I was doing a dodgy deal :)
It was a bank holiday and Bella needed to be A.I'd on my return...with success :)

I will never see Burger King the same way again ;)
