She doesnt seem like it bothers her, and theres no heat or swelling.

I noticed sunday she was just a little off on it, not massively but slightly.

She is still a little off on it today (as i watched her walk around the field....) she is just not stepping out as much on it thats all really.

She was doing some freeschool jumping saturday so im wondering if it could be that?

I said id give it a couple of days and call vet.....but she really seems ok other than not walking out as much on it.....what do you think?

Hope so, im sure she's maybe just jarred or pulled something, she did have a very "lets run round like a loon leaping over the jumps" few minutes

You say she's sound on a trot up and just a bit short in walk, if she was mine I would give her a few days and see what's happens. Good chance she has pulled, twisted something or over done it. If she gets worst than yes get a vet out stright away or if there's no improvement in a few days. The vets won't do a lot at the mo anyway. She's not crippled/hopping

I've always got one or both horses lame with some injury or other (or at least that's how it seems to be for the last few months) - from what you're saying, I wouldn't get the vet yet - see how it goes - mine are always pulling something from farting around in the field!

Thank you!

I feel a bit better now, ive not seen anyone at yard for last couple of days so ive not really had chance to get another "horsey" persons opinion x

Sorry to disagree but I would get the vet out asap. Personally I think that if anything really exaggerated lamenesses tend to be the less dangerous stuff long term, whereas very slight lamenesses tend to hide the more significant ligament and tendon problems. I would not ride her at all until the vet sees her and try to keep her as calm as possible. Lame in walk, sound in trot does sound very weird to me, I have never come across that before, is she sound in trot on the hard and on a surface? Straight line and lunge? Might be interesting to see what happens after flexion tests.

Hope I am totally wrong and she is absolutely fine!!!!

Trots up sound on hard surface, and just seems a little short in walk, its strange, it came on over night, after a jumping session, and its only been a couple of days, i may give it a day or 2 longer and then call vet, she doesnt seem sore on it, no swelling or heat...

UPDATE!

Has her walked and trotted up tonight, and she doesnt seem lame on it, she still doesnt seem "perfect" but i got a few others to look and they all agreed that she seems / looks fine, so i rode up the driveway and back and she didnt feel lame or fussy etc, seemed very happy actually....

She is definately better than sunday and monday, im now wondering if im almost looking for a fault!

^^^^^^^this, I have never heard of a horse being lame in walk and not in trot. Normally lameness is more apparent in trot and I would have said lame in walk indicates something more serious. Time for a vet, if only to put your mind at rest.

I always thought trot was the gait to see lameness in? I'm a total novice when it comes to this but thought it was something to do with the beat and the fact that a horse nomally nods a lot in walk anyway? Feel free to correct.

Nope - you are correct! Which is why a vet will always trot a horse up to ascertain lameness :):)

She is perfectly fine in trot, and doesnt appear to be walking differently other than her one leg seems slightly different to the other 3, but only very very slightly as in you really need to look for it.....a couple of people said they can see it to when i asked them to look but said they didnt think it was a problem and yard owner said im paranoid.....

It doesn't sound like much tbh and I wouldn't be rushing into getting the vet just yet. See how she goes.

sorry but what rubbish advice!!?!

of course you need to call the vet out. I wold stop the speculating and get a proper answer from a proffessional. Even slight injuries can develop into huge problems. Its not really worth compromising is it? If you dont know what the problem is, how can you be sure you are treating it in the correct way?
