We bought a 14.1 hh, 15 year old experienced competition pony for my daughter in February. My daughter has been getting on really well with her. In the last six week she has been behaving very differently.
At pony club camp five weeks ago so often didn't want to go forwards, as is usually very forward going, and seems sluggish. She was fit enough. She stopped at jumps a couple of times which is very unusual as they were just small. Since camp she has been very flighty. She will be going along nicely and then suddenly dip her bottom and shoot forwards and jumps up and down on the spot. This seems to be for no obvious reason.
She is still very good to handle and she's no signs of being Mareish, fine to groom and girth up.
This change in behaviour is unnerving for my 11 year old. I have tried Nupafeed and Oestress without any effect.
She is such a talented, experience pony I need to get to get bottom of it. Do you think it is behavioural or something wrong?
She s had her back checked by a chiropractor, and her teeth done recently.

It sounds as if something is bothering her, it may be the increased work at camp has brought it to a head and she is now in a degree of pain, I would get a vet to check her as it really doesn't sound like a behavioural issue to me.
