Due to some recent changes in my mare's behaviour.....she's 18 this year....i have been wondering whether anyone else thinks that it is possible that mares experience a menapause?

First of all, Welcome to the forum!
Regarding menopause, could it just be grumpiness associated with aches and pains as she is getting older.
Have you thought about trying her on a hormonal supplement like Oestress?

Oh I would say so. One of my mares is 19 and she had her last foal 2 years ago and since then......she hasn't had any seasons so I believe she is infertile now and has gone through the menopause.
I had an old mare boarding here and she was very sporadic with her seasons and to be honest in her last year, she never had any at all.
