Mares in season.........ALREADY!!!

Can you believe it all 3 of my mares have come into season already!! It must have been that mild week we had last week!

I've got 2 old girls who are miserable, grumpy and squealy and my youngster is flirting with everything that walks onto the yard!!!!

Anyone elses mares in season yet?

Yep. Mine was in season a couple of weeks ago but it's her birthday today so perhaps she comes from a long line of early cycling mares!

Mine came in just before Christmas.

I "think" I'm right in saying that mares come in season all year round anyway - they are just more obvious about it in the spring/summer months, I guess because the conditions are right to make babies. However, yes I have noticed some very obvious seasons in many of my mares since around Christmas time... tarts

Mine came in just before Xmas and it was between 0 and -20 that week. Only one mare though. Noticed this last year too with broodmare but she never really cycled properly after that and couldn't get back in foal so not thrilled to see it tbh
