Mares in season

I think its generally every 3-4 weeks from spring to autumn time i think there are variations from horse to horse though and im sure plenty of wild foals have been conceived out of this time.
I can always tell my mare is in season by her squirting at geldings (lovely!) generally full of herself and acting flash to show herself off - grows tall arches neck beautifully and floats around like an arab (shes a suffolk x)!

well the mare i have had now for nearlly a year i would say she has not been in season once because nothing has changed but i gather she must have. Do horses when they age stop having seasons or not?

I dont know whether they ever stop having seasons - i havent heard of this but i think alot of mares (especially older mares) dont show signs of season unless a stallion is present. You should count yourself lucky alot of mares can change alot (much like us!) when they are in season.
