hi there wondering if anyone could help me out i got my mare scanned 16 days from last covering but when she was scanned vet thought she was more 14 days in foal and carrying a bit of fluid:? just wondering if this is normal she due to be scanned again in 14 days just hoping its still there any info much appriacated x

Very much within normal parameters, don't panic!

The fluid is a little unusual but if your vet is happy I shouldn't worry.

By the 28 day scan your mare wil probably have caught up with herself and be presenting a perfect 28 day heartbeat

to add; you count the dates from the last ovulation, which could easily have been a day or two after the last covering

Dont think its to much to worry about, i had a mare AI'd this year and on her 14day scan was scanned not in foal. The vet decided not to PG her and we would scan her again in 5 days with the view to PG her and insemination her again when ready. To our surprise 5 days later she was scanned in foal with a 14 day pregnancy. The vet was as shocked as we were! She must have ovulated 4/5 days after being AI'd. Fingers crossed for good news in 14days for you.
