during the time she lived with him i never use to notice her coming in and out of season, now she is living in a field with just mares she has turned into a nightmare!! She is normally such a good girl to ride but recently she has got very spooky, fast and just abit naughty. Last night i gave her a tap with my schooling whip to ask abit more of her out on a hack and the little madam bucked and started cantering on the spot which upset my friends horse, she feels like she is being fed too many oats but has only been fed lo-cal for the last couple of months, and her grazing is pretty poor really. Also she is a complete tart to the geldings who live next door yet never showed any interest when she lived with the gelding, so what do you think is going on and is there anything i can give her to help her return to normal?

I believe this is perfectly normal. I know when my gelding has been introduced to other mares, the mares come into season in a matter of days.

Its her hormones because she is without her normal companion now.

Things should settle in a few weeks once her hormonal surge has settled down. Just bear this in mind when riding her that she will be hormonal for a while.

I am very sorry to hear about your gelding RIP x

It was my friends gelding, The_stropsters boy, Donnegan
