What is the best thing for midge/ mosquito's biting this delicate area please ?
Our mares came in with droplets of blood on their udders where they have started to be bitten already.

I use Avons Skin so soft spray in the summer months but wondering if a cream would be better - one of out mares hates sprays.

If things get really bad some of the sweet itch rug makers have udder covers that attach to the belly of the rug.

I use Radiol fly creme on my mare's udders and it stopped the Black Flies biting her udders. https://www.viovet.co.uk/Radiol-Fly-Repellent-Cream-for-Horses/c8997/

I tried the Snuggy one for my mare due to this exact issue, and found that despite it being correctly fitted, it was filling with poop and urine and needed daily washing. I'd be interested to hear of any other Udder Covers to try for sure.

I use NAF D-itch on any delicate areas like this, it sticks well and seems quite soothing. Plus it's oily ointment so doesn't feel cold when you apply it. Good in ears too :) Only need a small amount.
