marestare

No you shouldn't be concerned - just I am as it's some friends of mine !! and she was 'throwing' the puppy to help clear the airways.

Ah ha.

Only ever helped with ponies, kittens and lambs and never tried throwing one of them!!!

Its not like cats then where they say let mum have them straight away and not to let them 'smell' too human???

I have had several litters, well my dogs have and I haven't had to through any of them around!! I rub them vigorously and then hand them over to mum!

Yay for pup number 3

"Swinging" pups is not standard practice anymore, although if a pup is blue or lifeless or struggling for breath ...it works.

This poor bitch has been going a long time, I wish she could have all her pups and labour at the same time.

I also wish I could give the human mum a coffee and a hug x

Poor soul, she must be shattered

well said thisby1, i was so busy worrying about the poor dog that I didn't even take the time to think of poor human mummy. she has been up since 4.am. Lets send her a coffee and a packet of choccy hobnobs.

Was quite surprised to see her swinging that last pup as it seemed to be quite active, I have only used that method for pups that are very full of fluid and need a kickstart. Lovely looking bitch, but that is a long labour, did she have the first pup at 4 am or just start showing signs?

Lol exactly know what you mean...I had an early night last night (10pm) and guess what...missed Cinnamons foaling arghhh.

Though I did see the GSD's born, and did wonder why mum (owner) kept puppies away from mum :(
